Through her academics and extra-curricular activities, Siu-Yee Ching has consistently been a model student during her four years at IHA. As described by her friends, Siu-Yee is a loving, studious, hard-working, and responsible person, who enjoys reading, traveling, and Netflix. Even with her busy academic schedule, Siu-Yee still finds the time to participate in numerous clubs and organizations including Science League, Culture Club, National Honor Society, St. Joe’s Varsity Cheerleading and serves as a Copy Editor to Halcyon, as Vice President to the National French Honor Society, and as a Liaison in IHA’s Language Department.
Although Siu-Yee has served as a leader in many different organizations, her position as Copy Editor for Halcyon has stood out the most. “It was my first real leadership position at IHA and it taught me how to take on more responsibilities and meet urgent deadlines,” she says. Described by Ms. Alcaro, Halcyon’s advisor, as “a very dedicated student with a great eye for detail,” Siu-Yee’s talents have not gone unnoticed! “We were very lucky to have her, and will miss her skills next year,” Ms. Alcaro says.
Now approaching her final days as a senior at IHA, Siu-Yee Ching is ready to begin her journey at Lehigh University, as a Chemical Engineering major. When reflecting on her time as a student here, Siu Yee says, “while my past four years at IHA have been very academically difficult and challenging, I definitely believe that I grew as a person. My teachers all influenced me in a positive way and taught me to always do the best that I can. Most of all, I made amazing friends who helped me get through all the mental breakdowns and I will forever cherish the memories I made with them.” We wish you the best of luck in all that you do, Siu-Yee!
