It’s finally 2019! And for the Class of 2019, that means they are finally a second semester senior! Now it’s only a race to the end from here.
The seniors have the privilege of kicking off their year with the Senior Dance. The theme of this year was the purple and green celebration of Mardi Gras. The girls danced all night to a DJ resembling the tunes of last year’s Junior Prom, which got many excited for Senior Prom coming up in just a few short months. In an honest opinion, it kind of resembles freshman semi-formal, except now instead of being lost in a sea of people you don’t know, everyone has had the chance to grow with each other for the past four years. Not to mention, it’s no longer a transition to the early and awkward teenage years, but a transition to becoming a young adult in the world.
The doors opened at 7 o’clock sharp and everyone excitedly walked through the doors of a transformed gym. Mike Hamlet, the school photographer, was all ready to capture the essence of the senior class. Balloons, beads, and masks resembling the festive colors of Mardi Gras adorned the tables downstairs in the gym, waiting for the senior class to arrive.

A wide variety of food was offered at the dance, most notably the chicken nuggets provided by Chick-fil-a. Patricia Christensen’19 elaborates on the approval the senior class had for Chick-fil-a saying, “I’ve never had Chick-fil-a before, but it was pretty good once I tried it. It definitely lived up to the hype.” Not to mention, the desserts were absolutely exquisite. The chocolate covered strawberries are definitely a crowd favorite.
The Senior Dance was only the first of many exciting events that are to come in the upcoming months for the senior class. Congratulations and good luck to all of the seniors!
