What Entertainment Does October Have in Store?

Whether you enjoy reading books from your favorite author, watching movies that interest you, or catching up on your favorite TV shows, entertainment is a large part of our daily lives.  With Halloween right around the corner, October is the time of thrillers, horror films, and suspenseful stories. Below are some fantastic forms of entertainment to look out for this October.

Books:

Kingdom of Ash (Book #7 in the Throne of Glass Series) by Sarah J Maas

This young adult series is coming to an end with an exhilarating conclusion that features Aelin Galathynius, a Fae-Queen, who is risking everything for her Kingdom, even her very own life.

Release Date: October 23rd

That Night by Amy Giles

That Night follows Jessica and Lucas who are struggling after a horrific incident that happened one night, which just so happened to affect both of them in deeply personal ways.  When their paths cross suddenly, they learn to help each other heal and move forward.

Television Shows:

Halloween Wars

Halloween Wars, which airs on the Food Network channel is on its 8th season, running every October since 2011. Haidyn Gilmore and Sophia Gervino from the Class of 2022 are excited to watch the annual competition, which features 6 teams each with one pumpkin carver, cake decorator, and sugar artist to create the perfect scary dessert each episode.  Catch these episodes every Sunday at 9.

Riverdale

Calling all Riverdale fans! Season 3, Episode 1 of the ever-popular show from the CW Network, which is based off of the Archie Comics was released this past Wednesday, the 10th, and will continue to be released very Wednesday for the next few months.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Based off of the Archie comics and the 1996 show Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is being released on Netflix on October 26th.

 

Movies:

First Man

This historical PG-13 movie features Ryan Gosling as the astronaut, Neil Armstrong, and his journey with NASA to the moon from the years 1961- 1969.

Release Date: October 12th  

Halloween (2018)

A spin on the classic movie Halloween, which came out in 1978, is coming out this October. Jamie Lee Curtis’s character, Laurie Strode who finds that Michael Meyers has escaped from his institution. Many people, including my parents who watched the original when it first was released, are still excited, but are insistent that nothing can ever compare to the original.

Release Date: October 19th

 

The Hate That You Give

This movie, based on the book by Angie Thomas, features a girl who lives in an exclusively African American neighborhood but attends a mostly white prep school. When her childhood best friend is shot by a police officer, she must decide what she believes is right, and stick up for herself and others.

Release Date: October 5th
