What to Know About the 90th Annual Academy Awards This Sunday…

On Sunday, March 4th, the 90th annual Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, will be held at the Dolby Theater, in Los Angeles, California.

As for the host, Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting it again this year after last year’s fiasco with the Best Picture Nomination. However, Kimmel made light of the situation and made sure there won’t be any winner mix-ups this year.

“I’m still not clear on how the wrong envelope got into Warren Beatty’s hands,” Kimmel stated in an interview with ABC News “I’ll be honest, it’d be funny if it happened again.”

In addition, interviewer Paula Faris stated,“You don’t want things to go perfectly. You secretly want the wheels to fall off a little bit.”

“At least one wheel!” Kimmel jokes.

The nominees are just as promising. The nominees for best picture include critically acclaimed movies such as Lady Bird, The Post, and The Shape of Water.

Some nominees for best actor include Daniel Day-Lewis, Denzel Washington, and even Timothée Chalamet. In fact, Chalamet is the youngest actor ever to be nominated for best actor at age 22.

In addition, the nominees for best actress are just as exciting. These nominations include Sally Hawkins, Frances McDormand, Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan, and of course, Meryl Streep. This is Streep’s 21st Academy Award nomination.

Overall, this year’s Academy Awards will be filled with laughter, love, and support. The red carpet interviews will premier at 7 PM ET and the awards will premier at 8 PM ET.
