If there is anyone who has taken full advantage of their time at IHA, Sophia Gulati certainly has. Whether it is being involved in Student Council, a member of numerous Honor Societies, or a soccer star, Sophia has done it all.
Sophia began her first year at IHA as the president of her freshman class, the first of many successes while attending IHA. After finding her love of service, Sophia spends her free time volunteering at Camp Acorn and Sharing the Arts.
In addition, Sophia has excelled in soccer for many years. She has been a member of the IHA soccer team since freshman year, and went on to become the captain of the varsity team as a senior. The IHA soccer team has found great success due to Sophia’s stellar leadership, as the team was ranked first in New Jersey this past year.
Sophia is also a past participant in the All-American high school girls soccer game with the most elite high school soccer players in the country.
Aside from her athletic and extracurricular successes, Sophia is also a hardworking student. Sophia takes all Honors classes, in addition to AP Environmental Science. She has been a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society since her junior year.
An IHA education has taught Sophia many lessons. Sophia’s advice to her fellow students is to “enjoy and live in every moment instead of counting down to graduation. Looking back in retrospect, everything ends up working out and the tough times teach you how to be stronger and learn to deal with adversity.”
Sophia will be continuing her academic career at Princeton University in the fall, where she will studying Economics and playing soccer. She aspires to continue her education even further, and plans to receive her MBA in Economics.
Sophia’s final words to IHA are, “Be grateful for the experience you have at IHA and take what you learn with you as you move onto the next chapter in your life. Be thankful for your friends and teachers because your four years will fly and you won’t ever be able to get them back.”
IHA will always hold a special place in Sophia’s heart, as she will miss being “plaid to the bone” and all of her beloved friends. The IHA community wishes Sophia the best of luck and success in her future endeavors.
