On Wednesday, November 4 and Thursday, November 5, fifty members of the IHA senior class went to the Stella Maris Retreat Center in Long Branch, New Jersey for their senior retreat. Sister Carol Ann and Mrs. Adamo accompanied the girls on their overnight trip.
The girls participated in a variety of activities such as attending a mass, reading letters from their loved ones, and listening to speaker reflections. The girls took advantage of the rare warm weather in November by spending time on the beach, which also set the scene for their candle-lit prayer ceremony.
When asked about her experience, Mrs. Adamo said, “I enjoyed being with the girls and seeing a side of them that is not seen in the classroom because at retreats they have the freedom to be who they are and to reveal their true selves.”
She went on to say, “I have gone on these retreats for the past 18 years and each is different but the common thread is that the girls always let their guard down. It is a beautiful thing to see”
When asked about her personal experience, Meghan White ’16 said, “The views of the ocean were very calming and watching the sunrise over the ocean was one of my favorite parts.” Another senior, Jenn Wilson said, “It was nice to take a day off from school to reflect on my faith.”
The rest of the senior class will go on retreats held in December, January, or April.
