On October 14, IHA was the happiest place on earth, for the freshmen at least. While sophomores and juniors were taking the PSAT, the freshman class had spirit day.
This year’s theme was Disney and all the girls were dressed up as characters from a variety of Disney movies. Between the Sleeping Beauties, the Tinkerbells, and even Slinky from Toy Story, everyone looked great.
The freshman class moderator, Ms. McNulty, organized this magical day. She stated, “I was inspired by both my spirit days, last years freshman spirit day, and just by brainstorming ideas.”
Last year’s spirit day took much longer than this year’s spirit day to plan out. “This year I knew what I wanted to improve on from last year, so I worked on my plans for a couple weeks and even got buzzers for trivia,” Ms. McNulty explained.
This year’s winning team was team 3, which consisted of homerooms 205 and 206. Those two lucky homerooms will get to enjoy a delicious ice cream party. Overall, this year’s spirit day was not only a great bonding experience for the girls, but it also was filled with fun activities.
Not only were there exciting contests, trivia, and skits taking place but, there was also the freshman class elections. There were four positions for class officers and everyone who ran had written speeches. “The elections were extremely close,” stated Ms. McNulty.
This year’s freshman class president is Danielle Esposito. “It felt really good when I got elected because I realized that the freshman class trusted me enough to run their student council with the help of the other girls on the council!” Esposito exclaimed.
The other office positions filled for the freshmen were, Vice President: Alessia Ruggiero, Treasurer: Molly Gallagher, and Secretary: Rebecca Nadler. They had their first duty Halloween when the four and other classmates decorated the Halloween Pep Rally banner and freshman section.
