Kelly Osbourne is leaving E!’s Fashion Police. The star, 30, quit the long running style series on February 27th amid controversy involving her co-host Giuliana Rancic, E! News confirms.
“Kelly Osbourne is departing E!’s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers,” the network said in a statement.
“Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Friday, March 30th at 9:00 p.m. and no decisions have been made on her replacement.”
The purpled hair host actually threatened to walk earlier in the week after Rancic criticized Osbourn’s pal Zendaya for her dreadlocks at the Oscars, saying she probably smelled like “patchouli oil” or “weed.”
“I WILL NOT BE DRAGED INTO THIS!” Osbourne tweeted at the time. “The situation is being rectified like ADULTS by both parties. I hope you can leave it to them and do the same! You guys do realize that @Zendaya is my friend, right?”
She then followed that with two other tweets addressing the incident, including one in which she said she was questioning her future on the show, which the late Joan Rivers previously hosted.
A second source spoke with People Magazine saying that Osbourne had reservations about the Zendaya jokes even during filming. The insider said she even stopped taping twice to protest. “On the first two takes, Kelly said, ‘Guys, we can’t say this. Zendaya is a friend of the show,'” the source said.
This leaves the show with an unknown future. Some speculators have said they are already recruiting a new co-host, including Khloe Kardashian.
