During an episode of The View last October, Taylor Swift said that she would donate proceeds from her song “Welcome to New York” to New York City’s public schools.

Recently, Taylor Swift kept her word, donating $50,000 to the New York City Department of Education.

“We’re deeply appreciative of this kind gesture to donate her proceeds of the single ‘Welcome to New York’ to benefit NYC public schools,” a spokesperson from the Department of Education said. The official also said that the $50,000 will go to a student run “musical production competition” called “Sing!”

“This is not a one time donation,” Swift’s publicist, Tree Paine, stated. “Taylor will continue to donate the proceeds she receives from the sale of the single ‘Welcome to New York’ to NYC public schools.”
