Investigation is currently taking place on an SUV driver who stopped at a railroad crossing causing a collision with a train resulting in a total of six deaths.
The SUV driver was identified as Ellen Brody. According to a family friend, Brody was the mother of three girls.
When the gates at the crossing had come down on top of the vehicle, Brody got out of the car to examine the rear. When she got back into the vehicle, she drove forward onto the tracks. The collision took place a little after 7 PM on Tuesday, February 3rd.
The vehicle was dragged about one thousand feet forward and the gasoline from the SUV caused the first railroad car to completely go up in flames.
Officials say that this is the deadliest crash in Metro North Railroad history.
