On January 22nd, the IHA Respect Life Club and The St. Joseph Regional Respect Life Club marched with thousands of others in the 42nd annual March for Life in Washington DC.

The March for Life was started in 1974 to protest the decision in the Supreme Court Case called “Roe v. Wade,” which made abortion legal. There were 20,000 people in attendance in the first March for Life. The numbers have increased, and this year there was an estimated number of more than 500,000 people marching down Constitution Avenue to the steps of the Supreme Court of the United States.

The March consists of people of all ages, religions, and backgrounds, all marching for rights for unborn babies.

It was amazing to see the amount of young people from high schools all across the nation at the march to be the voice for those who don’t have one. The chant was: “We are the pro-life generation.” It was great that members of the IHA community got to be part of something so important.
