On Sunday night in Miami, Miss Columbia, Paulina Vega, was crowned as 2015 Miss Universe.
Vega, a 22-year-old business administration major at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, competed against women from 88 countries all aspiring for the Miss Universe crown.
Along with the title of Miss Universe, Vega won a luxury apartment in New York City, jewelry, clothes, shoes, an undisclosed salary given by the organization, and a one0year scholarship at the New York Film Academy.
After Vega received her crown, the first thought that came to mind was her people, saying that she was full of “pride and excitement” her for country.
“[Columbians] are a persevering people no matter what obstacle gets in [their] way,” Vega said.
Although Miss USA didn’t win the crown, she did come as runner up. Miss USA’s Nia Sanchez was followed by Miss Ukraine, Miss Jamaica, and Miss Netherlands.
