BROOKLYN- Saturday, December 20th, two NYPD cops – Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu – were shot and killed by Ismaaiyl Brinsley. The two innocent cops were stunned when they heard the trigger. They turned as they saw the last seconds of their lives, and then the trigger was pulled.
Brinsley fired near Tompkins Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant. He earlier killed his girlfriend when he was back in Baltimore, then went to Brooklyn to kill the officers who were doing their jobs. After this, he went to the subway platform to kill himself.
Ramos and Liu were taken to Woodhull, but there was nothing that could be done and both suddenly died.
Brinsley did not give much evidence of what he was about to do, but he had posted some suspicious things within the week. The day of the shooting he posted on Instagram – “I’m putting wings on pigs today. They take 1 of ours … let’s take 2 of theirs #ShootThePolice, #RIPErivGarner #RIPMikeBrown. This may be my final post … I’m putting pigs in a blanket.”
Mayor de Blasio and PC Bratton held a press conference discussing the details of the murder. This let the people know everything that happened during the shootings and how sorry they were for the families and friends.
This was not the first time that Brinsley had been involved with the police. He has previously been discharged with criminal trespassing, battery obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and shoplifting and carrying a concealed weapon.
