According to E! News “This will be the first visit by either of their Royal Highnesses to both New York City and Washington, D.C.” This means that the city will be on high alert making sure that this is a memorable trip for the royal couple.
Both Prince William and Princess Kate will be visiting the September 11 memorial and museum at the World Trade Center, and then Prince William will be taking a solo trip to Washington DC. While in DC, Prince William will be visiting the World Bank for an anti-corruption conference.

However, the trip isn’t all business for the royal couple, as they will be getting a glimpse into the world of New York sports when they attend a New York Nets game to support the collaboration with the Royal Foundation, United for Wildlife, and the NBA.
