Justin Bieber’s recent breakup with the actress and singer, Selena Gomez, seemed to have hit the Canadian performer hard. The situation seemed to have pushed the star to get in touch with his religious side.

Bieber decided to go on a retreat with a good friend, Pastor Carl Lenz, in Rancho Mirage, outside Palm Springs, California. Bieber stayed with the pastor and his family in Glen Rock, New Jersey.

Pastor Carl Lenz is a popular pastor at Hillsong Church in New York City. It seemed that Bieber and the Pastor have known one another for a while. The Pastor re-baptized Bieber during a stressful period in his life last June.

During this two-week retreat, Bieber gave up drinking and drugs, along with any other negative things that affected his life.

Many believe, however, that Bieber was not doing this for the right purposes, but rather to impress Gomez and get her back. He seems to be very depressed and is beginning to concern people. “We don’t know if he’s on this retreat to go into hiding or what, but if he is sick and not getting treatment, it’s not going to get any better,” said physiologist Steven Orenstein.
